More than 30 investors from Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru
are eyeing the proposed Maai Mahiu economic zone in Naivasha Sub-County for
potential investment opportunities. The investors have their eyes locked on
sectors such as building and construction, property, logistics, hospitality and
health.
Previously, Nakuru County had called for proposals for
transforming Naivasha into an economic hub by setting up different investment
ventures. These ventures are expected to be on a 50-acre piece of land.
Companies based in Nairobi such as Marimo Construction
Ltd, Enkavilla properties Ltd, Cool Breeze Gardens, Swing Valley Group, and
Nyawawa Ltd just to name a few, have their eyes locked on expanding to Naivasha.
According to Mr Kamau Njuguna, a director representing
Kenya in the East Africa chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the sudden interest
in Nakuru is a clear indication that the County is the most preferred
investment destination in the country.
"Governor Lee
Kinyanjui’s administration should use the goodwill by the investors to
fast-track the upgrade of infrastructure, health, and water services in the
region as the demand for these services will peak in the next five years as
more investors troop to Naivasha," said Mr Kamau.
